Merkur Group opened a new sales centre in Varaždin, Croatia

On 4 June 2009, the Merkur Group subsidiary from Zagreb, Merkur Hrvatska, opened a new sales centre in Varaždin. In 2009, this is the third investment in development of Merkur Group network abroad.

The new sales centre is in Gospodarska ulica bb in Varaždin. It is the largest Croatian Merkur Group sales centre. The sales centre measures more than 20,000 square metres. More than 35,000 high-quality products for the home, garden, quality living and workshop made by established manufacturers are available to the customers at one place. The sales centre caters for retail buyers, and also sells goods wholesale to small business, craftsmen and handymen.

The Varaždin sales centre is one of the most modern Merkur sales centres. The investment was substantial and amounted to EUR 20 million, including land, construction cost and equipment for the centre. The new Merkur centre now employs 70 members of staff, from that 53 have been employed anew.

The Varaždin Merkur sales centre was built according to the strategic plan on development of Merkur Group companies in Slovenia and abroad. In the first half of 2009, Merkur Group opened two new Merkur sales centres: in Skopje (Macedonia) and Murska Sobota (Slovenia). Big Bang opened new centre in Beograd (Serbia). Merkur Group also started construction of another three Merkur sales centres: in Beograd (Serbia), Ljubljana and Škofja Loka (Slovenia). Their opening is planned for 2009.
