Merkur opened a new sales centre in Murska Sobota

The new Merkur sales centre is at Markišavska ulica 30, and covers 14,000 square metres of sales and warehousing surfaces. The sales centre offers 35,000 high-quality items made by established manufacturers for the home, garden, quality living, and workshop. It attends to retail buyers and also sells goods wholesale to entrepreneurs, craftsmen and handymen.  

The citizens of Murska Sobota and its wider area will benefit from the new Merkur sales centre, which has been designed according to the well established and improved sales concept. Its basic advantage is a carefully designed shopping aisle winding through a modern and attractive shopping area. Thanks to this, all articles are neatly displayed and within easy reach of the shopper. The sales centre is divided into two parts. MERKURDOM attends to the retail buyers of articles for the home, easy living, and garden, while MERKURMOJSTER focuses on items for DIY, handymen, and entrepreneurs. Doing the shopping is easy also thanks to the 320 parking lots for the customers.  

Merkur has introduced a new department into its sales centres, which offers special products for the home. These make the living quarters more homely and comfortable, and also add to the pleasant atmosphere. 

Merkur Group has invested EUR 18 million in construction of the new sales centre. Murska Sobota sales centre employs staff from two Merkur shops that have closed down. In addition to this, the centre has employed another twelve workers, so the staff currently numbers 76.       

The new sales centre in Murska Sobota is yet another step in achieving further growth of Merkur Group in consideration of the strategic plan. Despite the harsh conditions on the market, Merkur Group also in 2009 remains the largest Slovene investor. Merkur Group has opened a new sales centre in Skopje, and a Big Bang sales centre in Beograd. In the following months, new sales centres will be built in Varaždin (Croatia), Beograd (Serbia), Ljubljana and Škofja Loka (Slovenia).
